An 8 page paper presenting a plan to determine efficacy and clinical safety of a new anti-cancer agent. Today’s pharmaceutical industry has made some overwhelming strides, if not in preventing cancer, at least in halting its progress so that individual patients can eventually be pronounced free of their disease. There has been much work targeted toward inhibiting the ability of solid tumors to overgrow their surroundings, inhibition directed at preventing tumors’ ability to generate what can become vast networks of blood vessels nourishing and fueling tumors’ growth. The paper suggests organ culture and computer modeling for preliminary efficacy studies, followed by combination with a prodrug enzyme for action only at the specific tumor site. Bibliography lists 14 sources.
